In Paotou and the surrounding province to the north of the Great Wall of China, in the old area of the Mongols, typical "blue-in-blue" or blue-beige carpets used to be knotted. Usually they were of rather small dimensions but here it is a large-seized picture rug dating to the Ch'ing-Dynasty.
